Tagged...

I was tagged by Elaine at "Looking For George." Thank you, Elaine! No, that wasn't sarcastic. She did two tags in one day and I can choose to do either or both. I'll do both, but I've answered some of these questions on a previous tag, so I'm repeating myself a little. I'm betting no one was paying attention anyway.

First Tag:

What I was doing 10 years ago: I was a homeschooling, SAHM with three little boys- ages 8, 6, and 4. My, how times have not changed. I was pregnant with Tucker, so I'm sure I was stuffing my face and complaining about the heat. I was trying to convince Darrell we should adopt a baby girl from China.

5 things on my to-do list today:
**1. Must make time to play with the Easy Bake Oven with Livie. She's been asking me... (bad mommy).
2 LAUNDRY... :(
3. Dr. appointment, then grocery store and errands.
4. Cleaning house.
5. Paying bills.

Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
For starters, I would not want to be a billionaire. Too much stress comes with that kind of money. I would, however, somehow suck it up and learn to live with being a multi-millionaire.
1. Pay tithe!
2. Pay off our house and debts.
3. Make sure our moms are financially taken care of.
4. Make sure each one of our children's and grandchildrens' futures are taken care of (and there goes most of the money right there).
5. Pay off the remainder of our church's building fund.
6. Give to Bri's SWI in China.
7. Give to local Crisis Pregnancy Centers to help them expand/continue their services.
8. Share with friends/family as needed.
9. Help local uninsured families experiencing medical crises. Set up some kind of fund or foundation to help pay their expenses.
10. Go visit all of our Compassion International kids and give to their families- that would mean traveling to: Tanzania, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, El Salvador, Colombia, and Nicaragua.
11. Start our own foundation for giving out adoption grants.
12. Go on a long trip to places we've always wanted to see, but have never been, both in the US and abroad.
13. Move to a beautiful, secluded, woodsy place with lots of room and a lake nearby.
14. Buy a vacation spot somewhere beachy.
15. Oh, Frap... Pay taxes.
16. Buy the best, most extravagant, expensive chocolate ever made and... hog it all for myself! lol!

Bad habits:
1. Eating to celebrate.
2. Eating to comfort or console myself.
3. Eating out of boredom... (OMG, I think I may have just stumbled upon the reason I'm fat!)
4. Yelling.
5. Letting my house get out-of-control messy before I clean it.
6. Worrying.

Places I’ve lived:
Grandview, Mo., Belton, Mo., Kansas City, Mo., Current location

5 jobs I’ve had:
Hairstylist
House painter/wallpaper hanger
Accounts Payable Clerk
Receptionist
Mom

Second Tag:

Favorite Person Outside Family:
I do have one, but I'm not about to say who it is. That way, I can tell each one of you that it's YOU! I should have been a politician.

Quirks about me:
Aw, geez. Too many to mention and some are too embarrassing to admit.
Claustrophobia is the biggie.
I also don't like or trust clowns. They make me very nervous.
I am ridiculously picky about sorting laundry. I have perfected my system over the years and no one understands it.
I sometimes feel a sudden urge to cry at big, public events for no good reason: concerts, sports events, parades, etc. I don't know what that is. Weird. Really Weird.

How would the person who loves you most describe you in 10 words or less:
Darrell is in here right now, so I asked him. I do not agree with his answers, but this is a direct quote: "Beautiful, courageous, wise, lots of common sense, short (I am not short, I am average- 5' 5.5"), considerate, loving, edgy, artsy." That's more than 10. He wanted to give 10 more. Awwww...

Any regrets in life:
Yes. Every wasted opportunity to just enjoy my children.

Favorite charity/cause:
My church.
Compassion International.

Favorite Blog recently:
So many. Can't choose.

Something you can’t get enough of:
THAI FOOD! Chocolate/desserts, Jesus, my kids (not necessarily in that order!!!)

Worst job I ever had:
Painting houses outside in the winter. The worst part was that my boss only referred to me as "Dummy," and I would answer to it!

Worst job you would pay NOT to have:
I agree with Elaine's answer: I would not want to be the guy who cleans septic tanks. A slaughter house would not be fun.

Favorite bible verse:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make your paths straight.

Jeremiah 29:11-13
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Guilty pleasure:
Chocolate, Blogging, Computer games.

Got any confessions:
Yes.

If you HAD to spend $1000 on yourself, how would you spend it?
I'm so boring. I would honestly use it to pay off a bill, and I would be THRILLED! Debt upsets me more than anything else.

Favorite thing about your house:
The people who live in it.

Least favorite thing about your house:
The noise from all the people in it.

One thing you are good at:
Baking.

One thing you would change about your circumstances:
I'd be bringing home my baby from Vietnam!
I'd be out of debt!
(Sorry, that's more than one)

Who would you like to meet some day?:
The most obvious answer is Jesus, but I also think it would be cool to meet Carol Burnett. I always loved her when I was little.

What makes you feel sexy:
I haven't felt sexy for years... So, I would have to say "Nothing."

Who is your real life hero?:
Anyone who is willing to lay down their life for another. Those kinds of stories always get to me.

What is the hardest part about your job?:
Juggling homeschooling with all the other normal SAHM responsibilities.

When are you most relaxed?:
Probably during one of Darrell's awesome back rubs.

When are you most stressed?:
Right after I open my eyes in the morning- LOL! Really, it's probably during a financial crisis, or waiting to file taxes, etc.- always stuff dealing with money. Also when one of the kids is sick, hurt, or doing something really stupid.

What can you not live without?:
God. My faith in Him.

Do you agree or disagree about the recent article that reported blogs are authored by narcissists:
Narcissist? But I thought the world really does revolve around me... Are you saying it doesn't?

Why do you blog?:
Apparently it's because I'm a narcissist! Actually, it kind of started by accident, as a way to keep family and friends informed on the adoption, like many other mommy bloggers started. I've kept it up, I guess, because it's become a way to connect with other people. There's a little bit of loneliness and isolation involved with being a SAHM, I think. Blogging helps with that somewhat.

There you have it. I don't know what the rules are, so I'll just tag three people, and invite anyone else who wants to play!:
Laura, Lina, and Char

If you've already been tagged, you're done!

Have you heard about the Child's Right Campaign for Vietnam? The JCICS and many agencies have come together and are asking families to contact their congressmen to inform them of the coming closure and to push to keep Vietnam open. It only takes a few minutes to send an easy email. You can find more info on my blog and the JCICS website. It would be great to let your blog readers know, so they can contact their congressmen too. It's something we can do that might make a difference. Thanks, Kelly

Blogging does help with the loneliness and isolation of being a SAHM, doesn't it? Oh, and BTW, OF COURSE the world revolves around you. That's why we all read your blog!
